There can be large variations in the physical demands required to compete in the various combat sports. Event durations can vary greatly, from the 3 x 5 minute rounds of MMA to the 12 x 3 minute rounds of boxing. The primary energy systems required can also vary, ranging from the highly aerobic components, to the anaerobic power bursts. More often than not it requires a combination of all three energy systems, not to mention the motor skills and psychological aspects as well.
Fight-Science can measure components of fight and competitive fitness in all of the following areas:
The first step in designing a fitness testing regime is to identify the components of fitness that you wish to investigate. These may depend on the phase of training or the phase of the season in which the testing is being done. Each discilpline requires certain attributes and relies on certain factors more than others for successful performance.
There is often a standard set of tests that are performed for the fitness testing of any sport. If you do not have access to such a list for your chosen combat sport, or you wish to modify our protocols to suit individual needs we would be happy to discuss and design a testing programme suited specifically to your requirements.
